1929 - Balboa - 2 1/2 Centésimos (Dos Y Medio)
Panama, officially called the Republic of Panama, is a country in Central America situated between North and South America.[1] The balboa is, along with the United States dollar, one of the official currencies of Panama. It is named in honor of the Spanish explorer/conquistador Vasco Núñez de Balboa. The balboa is subdivided into 100 centésimos.[2] n 1904, silver coins in denominations of 2½, 5, 10, 25, and 50 centésimos were introduced. These coins were weight-related to the 25 gram 50 centésimos, making the 2½ centésimos coin 1¼ grams. Its small size led to it being known as the "Panama pill" or the "Panama pearl". In 1907, copper-nickel ½ and 2½ centésimos coins were introduced, followed by copper-nickel 5 centésimos in 1929.[2] REF[1], REF[2] Coin ‹ 2 1/2 Centésimos Source: colnect.com Country: Panama Series: 1903~Today - Republic (Circulation) Catalog codes: World Coins km8 Issued on: 1929 Last issue date: 1929 Distribution: Standard Circulation Weight: 3.27 grams Composition: Copper-Nickel Edge: Plain/smooth Orientation: Coin alignment ↑O↓ Face value: 2½ c - Panamanian centésimo Known mintage: 1,000,000 Composition Details: 75% copper, 25% nickel REF Panama 2 1/2 Centésimos Source: en.numista.com Features KM# 8 Country Panama Year 1929 Value 2.5 Centésimos (0.025 PAB) Metal Copper-nickel Weight 3.27 g Diameter 18 mm Shape Round Demonetized yes REF |
